Collins Kids..Talent Before Their Time..

Collins Kids-Hoy Hoy-Snapper Music-5 Stars (enjoyment)

...I would like to thank Sam Szczepanski ( September 2009 ) for all the information and knowledge he shared in his write up on the Collins Kids. I just happened to stumble on a couple of their clips on YouTube and thought they were very entertaining, mostly Larry Collins, a young dynamo-guitar wiz. Joe Maphis had taken Larry under his wing and from there Larry took flight. Lorrie Collins was a very beautiful young lady with a great voice ( 14 yrs old ) but Larry was the mover ( 12 yrs old ). Lorrie had been engaged to Ricky Nelson, but had eloped with Stew Carnall, Johnny Cash's road manager, Ricky found out about it by reading it in the paper. This put an end to the Collins Kids for now, but later would get together again several times, but not to that extent. Lorrie raised her family, Larry had his career: professional golfer, songwriter..co-wrote Delta Dawn ( Tanya Tucker/Helen Reddy ) and You're The Reason God Made Oklahoma ( Frizzell & West ).

...All of these tunes brought me enjoyment, Rockabilly beat, these kids were so visual, people forgot how good they sounded. Songs like: Hush Money, Their Still In Love, Rock And Roll Polka, Young Heart, Hop, Skip And Jump, Just Because, Heartbeat, Hoy Hoy, Party and so on. They had been regulars on Town Hall Party before recording with Columbia Records, a great collection of two fine artists, brother and sister..TWIN TALENTS..ENJOY.
