Thunder Bay still gets some COUNTRY...

Although we don't have any clubs/bars that feature country music, The Community Auditorium is doing more than its share to bring acts in for the fans. In April they featured Charley Pride, with his son Dionne. Coming up soon are: Aaron Pritchett (June 17th), Wynonna (June 26th), Travis Tritt (July 24th) and Stompin' Tom (July 31st). One of the local clubs, The Office/Crocks featured the grandson of Hank Williams, Hank Williams 111, they listed him as Rebel Country, could very well be when pushed. Hank 111 sounds more like his grandfather than Bocephus (his dad). Most of his releases have Adult Warning, not always sounding country, but he has his own things to say, in his own way.

....For those country fans who might be on the road this summer there are several country music festivals up here: Dauphin's Countryfest (July1st-4th) with acts like Brooks & Dunn, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Corb Lund and others, Calgary Stampede (July9-18th) featuring Jimmy Wayne, Eric Church, Collin Raye, Jason Aldean, The Kentucky Headhunters and others. Craven Country Jamboree (July15-18th) has acts like Kenny Chesney, Martina McBride, Emerson Drive, Neal McCoy, Diamond Rio and others, Big Valley Jamboree (July29-Aug1st) acts like: Ronnie Milsap, Doc Walker, Oak Ridge Boys plus more, and Havelock Country Jamboree (Aug19-22nd) with Dwight Yoakam, Gretchen Wilson, Tanya Tucker,Ricky Skaggs, Patty Loveless,Sammy Kershaw, Marty Stuart and many more. Canada has its share of country festivals too. Enjoy country music this summer in your Country.
