John Winters-1944-2010..another country passing

...A friend passed away this past weekend, John R. Winters, a country music singer / recording artist. John was also into the pizza business Papa Joe's Pizza, had several outlets around town and were a meeting place for some of the people involved in the music business. I remember seeing Don Grashey, Corinne King, Heather Haig ( John and Heather did one or two duets together ), Chuck Williams. John Winters released 2 albums on Don's Golden Eagle Records label, both produced in Nashville. I'll always remember when John used to pick me up, use my records to learn new songs for when he played in the clubs. John Winters played in several bands, the one I remember the most had Bob Hunt as the drummer and Ray Belluz on steel guitar ( John would also sell Real Estate for Ray later on ). One of my favourite songs that John would do in the bars was Silver Wings, he did a fantasic job.

....John Winters two albums were I Got Over You and Polishing Mem'ries. My fave was his first release, my faves on this one were: Rock On Jesus, I Can't Take Care Of Mama, Should You Ever Think Of Cheating and Leaning On The Devil. The second album had the faves: Rain Only Falls On My Mansion, Did I Forget To Tell Her, I Once Should Have Loved Her. Many of these songs were written or co-written by Don Grashey, John Winters and Don Sponcha ( an excellent writer himself ). I am sorry I didn't make it to the visitation, but my friend Paul represented us both. Paul talked with Heather Haig, who is a great singer and a friend to John and Don. Hope I'll get to see her soon. Goodbye John, you are missed by many.
