Georgette Jones-A Slightly Used Woman-Heart Of Texas Records-5.5 Stars (enjoyment)-10 Stars for COUNTRY MUSIC
...Here is a lady who I dont think will get too much air play, and that is a shame because she is VERY GOOD, but she has recorded the sweetest, purest sounding music I have heard in a long time. Georgette co-wrote 3 of the 12 cuts here, 2 of them being with Mark McGuinn, who she also does a duet with..Better A Painful Ending. This lady has a couple of high, lows with her vocals, but overall is right on. You hear country music, you feel country music, it is country music, BUT, who WILL PLAY IT. Goes back to the saying..Too country for todays radio....NUTS...Country Music is Country Music. And this is the BEST I have heard for ages. Mind you REAL country music stations like the internet http://www.alwayscountry.net should jump on this, at least a couple of their DJs would enjoy this for their listeners.
....Georgette Jones daughter of George Jones and Tammy Wynette, talk about a legacy, heiratage. Wow, mom was THE FIRST LADY of country music and George is a LIVING LEGEND. Georgette covers The Race Is On, I Dont Wanna Play House, does a duet with her father..You and Me and Time (sounds very biographic ?)..I am not sure but I thought Tammy did I Still Believe In Fairy Tales,,I Hope You Knew (very emotionable)..a beautiful version of Precious Memories..plus great, country sounding tunes like Leaving Yesterday, Second Time Around, Send Me No Roses and You Dont Hear. You can almost hear some of Tammy Wynettes vocals within Georgette..but it is GEORGETTE JONES. Great sounding country release..hope we get to hear her out there...ENJOY...COUNTRY is BACK. Almost forgot Tammy co-wrote Slightly Used Woman.
