Glen Campbell-Duets-3.5 Stars (Enjoyment)
....Glen Campbell did not get high chart action with his duets like he did with his singles, if they were played today that might have changed. Glen does 5 duets with Bobbie Gentry, remember Fancy and Ode To Billy Joe. I re-discovered how much I enjoyed this ladys singing. Mornin Glory (sultry), Let It Be Me (nicely done), Gentle On My Mind (upbeat), Sunday Morning (the feel of The Mamas and The Papas) and All I Have To Do Is Dream (Everly Brothers fave). These are some of the best cuts.
....Then Glen Campbell has 4 duets with Anne Murray: I Say A Little Prayer (Anne) and By The Time I Get To Phoenix (Glen) combo that works well together, Your Easy To Love (a weaker tune, but still good), Ease Your Pain (a feel good and inspirational song), United We Stand (up-lifting song). Over all well done and could be played today also.
...I Gotta Have My Baby Back (Tennessee Ernie Ford) has a blues and jazz feel at times with Tennessee Ernie Ford doing most of the vocals, and Glen doing mostly the guitar work.
....Somethin About You Baby That I Like is done with Rita Coolidge, not to bad a combo.
...Then we have a repeat from the Tanya Tucker CD, Why Dont We Just Sleep On It Tonight, a nice cut, but did not have the spark their relationship had.
.....This also is a nice trip down a musical memory lane, if you are tired of the same ole, same ole...try these two Cds...it will be different. Enjoy
